This sub-genre is as important to the evolution of Dance music as New Orleans is to the jazz movement of the 20th century.
House music evolved from Gospel and Blues. The message in its music is inspirational in nature and has remained heavily influenced by jazz, funk and danceable R&B since its inception in the late 1970s. House music has a fiercely loyal fan base of supporters who regularly attend events and purchase alternative music.
